Han Yoo-mi, coach of the South Korean women’s national volleyball team, who is set to compete in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL), is confident that last year’s failure will help the team improve.
The women’s team departed from Incheon International Airport on the morning of the 22nd for Turkkiye Istanbul, where they will compete in Week 1 of the VNL.
Before departure, Coach Han Yoo-mi said, “Despite the absence of Coach Cesar Hernandez (Spain), all the players trained hard. “We had a good atmosphere and did what we planned to do,” she said, “and I’m glad that all 16 of us got on the plane for the tournament without any injuries, especially in domestic training.
Cesar is currently coaching at Bakhivbank in Turkiye, so he was unable to travel with the team, which has been training at the Jincheon Athletic Center since last month. César will join the national team in Turkiye.
Without Cesar, Coach Han Yoo-mi worked with Advisor Kim Yeon-kyung (Heungkuk Life) to guide the players and prepare them for the competition.
“Even though the coach was not there, we received feedback online and corrected our deficiencies. We also practiced on our own to make up for our deficiencies. Advisor Kim Yeon-kyung also helped us a lot,” she said, adding, “When we meet the coach in Turkuye, we can get guidance on what we lacked during domestic training.” She expressed her satisfaction with the one-month training camp.
For Korean women’s volleyball, this year’s results are crucial. South Korea went through a generational change in 2021 when Kim Yeon-kyung, Kim Soo-ji (Heungkuk Life), and Yang Hyo-jin (Hyundai E&C) retired from the national team.
Last year, the newcomers, coupled with injuries to some players, suffered a 12-match losing streak in the VNL.토토사이트
“All the players want to win,” said Han Yoo-mi. “We all know that this year is important because our performance last year was so bad. So we’ve been preparing for the tournament as a team,” he said of the team’s mood.
“We are better prepared than last year. The players have grown from the pain they experienced last year, and I think a lot of things have changed and improved as they have gained experience through international competitions,” he said, adding, “I think all the players felt a lot of failure last year.”
“Our first goal is to win three games, and we will show more persistence on the court than last year,” the coach concluded.
