It was more than expected.

Baseball’s KT Ahn Chi-young started in right field as the No. 9 hitter against Doosan in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on Wednesday. She went 1-for-3 with one run, one RBI, and one run scored. He recorded his first RBI in his professional debut and scored the winning run. Also had a walk. Contributed to the 13-3 win.

He was drafted by KT with the 51st overall pick in the 2017 secondary sixth round. His time in the first team was short-lived. He batted just 0.167 (18-for-3) in 21 games in 2017 and 0.167 (1-for-6) in five games in 2019. His last appearance with the first team came on August 14, 2019, against Lotte. He went 1-for-3 in that game.

He worked tirelessly to make the first team again. He changed his position from infielder to outfielder before the final camp last year. This year, he played 26 games in the second-tier Futures League, batting .324 (23-for-71) with 12 RBIs. He was so well-received that he was finally called up on March 3. He followed up his start with a hit and an RBI.

With one out in the second inning, he hit a sacrifice fly to right field. This led to the game-winning run. In the fourth inning, with the bases loaded, he scored on a passed ball. With two outs in the sixth, he hit a single up the middle. The defense was steady. In the fourth inning, they had runners on second and third. Kim Min-hyuk’s hit was caught by running forward and falling down. It would have been a two-run play, but the sacrifice fly allowed only one run. In the top of the fifth inning, she also caught Kim Dae-hyun’s fly ball.

Ahn said, “It’s been a long time, so I was excited and happy. “It was fun to play in front of so many fans after a long time,” she said, “I wasn’t nervous. I was thinking, ‘Let’s do well, let’s take advantage of this opportunity,'” she said.

“I’m glad I didn’t make any mistakes on defense. I talked to the Future Team coaches and they helped me a lot. Thanks to them, I gained confidence,” he said. “(In the fourth inning, when Kim Min-hyuk batted), Coach Park Jung-hwan set up the defense well, so I was able to catch it. I don’t think I did a good job, but I would like to thank my coach.”

Surviving the outfield competition “Of course I’m greedy,” Ahn said. I feel like I want to take a spot,” she said. “To do that, I have to work hard and do well. I will try harder.”토토사이트

Finally, she thought of her family. “I called them on the 2nd when I heard about my call-up to the first team. They were very happy,” Ahn said. “Thank you for always watching and supporting me. I will continue to do my best.”
