Javier Hernandez (LA Galaxy) is preparing for the 2026 World Cup.
Better known as Chicharito, he is a ‘legend’ of the Mexican National Team. He appeared in 109 A-matches and scored 52 goals, the all-time record for Mexico. And he was evaluated as one of the world’s best strikers, playing for Manchester United and Real Madrid.
This is why he was not invited to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Chicharito showed good form last season, scoring 18 goals for the LA Galaxy, but Mexico coach Gerardo Martino excluded him from the final entry for tactical reasons.
Now Chicharito looks to the 2026 World Cup. This is Chicharito’s home. The 2026 World Cup will be held as a World Cup in North and Central America, including the United States, Canada and Mexico. So, I am more determined to participate.
Chicharito is now 35 years old. He will turn 38 in 3 years. He is close to 40 years old. But he is following the formula that age is just a number.
Chicharito said in an interview with England’s ’90min’: “I wanted to play in the World Cup in Qatar. I imagined that day. But the coach made the decision to exclude me. My World Cup did not happen. But I respect the coach’s decision.” said. 안전놀이터

Upcoming 2026 World Cup. Chicharito emphasized, “I can imagine myself participating in the 2026 World Cup. Of course, I want to do that. To do so, many things must be prepared. The most important thing is how I go to the World Cup in what condition.”
He also said, “I have no choice but to be cautious in front of my body, mind and the passage of time. However, there are many players who are active in many sports at the age of 40, not just soccer. I have seen a lot of extraordinary players. I said, ‘Why can’t that be?’ I’ve been thinking about it. It depends on many factors, but I believe I can do it myself.”
