Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro has agreed to join Bayern Munich.

“The Bavarians have agreed a free-agent transfer with Geheiro over the past few days,” Germany’s Sky Sports reported on Wednesday (ET).

Geheiro spent seven years with Borussia Dortmund, playing for the club from 2016 to 2023. Dortmund had offered Geheiro a 2+1 year deal when his contract expired at the end of June, but the player wanted a longer contract. The two sides were unable to agree on a deal, so the parting of ways was natural.

Dortmund finished runners-up in the 2022-2023 German Bundesliga. They took the lead in round 33 and had a chance to end Bayern’s decade-long dominance, but a loss to Mainz 05 in the final round saw them overturned by Bayern, who won the same round.

The Bavarians came within a whisker of winning the Meisterschaft (Bundesliga trophy), ending their 11-year reign as league champions.

According to the media, Bayern supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and head coach Thomas Tuchel were keen on signing Geheiro, especially Tuchel, who spent two seasons with Geheiro at Dortmund.토토사이트

As Dortmund’s chances of winning the league slipped away, the scenario of players leaving for Bayern replayed itself often. Robert Lewandowski (2014), Mario Gotze (2016) and Mats Hummels (2016) were among the key players who switched to Bayern.
