Behind a strong start from starter Adam Plutko and an explosive batting lineup, the LG Twins swept the Jamsil rival Doosan Bears. As the Lotte Giants snapped a four-game losing streak by beating the SSG Landers, LG jumped to a half-game lead over SSG in the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO).

LG thrashed the Dusan 15-3 in a home game on April 18 at Jamsil Stadium. LG pounded out 10 hits in the second inning and capitalized on errors by Doosan fielders to score nine runs.

In the second inning, LG’s Austin Dean hit an inside-the-park home run off Doosan starter Lee Hyung-beom, who took over the mound from Jang Won-joon. The inside-the-park home run was his second of the season and 92nd of his KBO career.

LG recorded the team’s second multi-hit game by all starters this season, as well as an eight-hit streak. The eight-hit streak is tied for the second-longest in the KBO behind the 11-hit streak set by the KIA Tigers against the Incheon SK Wyverns (now SSG Landers) on July 5, 2017. The LG bats pounded five Doosan pitchers for 19 hits and six walks.

Doosan’s Jang Won-jun, who had earned wins in each of his previous three outings, suffered his first loss of the season after giving up seven runs (six earned) on seven hits in one and one-third innings, while LG’s Plutko improved to 9-0 with seven innings of one-run ball.
