French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are preparing to move on from Kylian Mbappe as they look to replace the Portuguese god with Lee Kang-in.
PSG, who signed Mbappe after the 2018 World Cup in Russia and have since become one of Europe’s top clubs, recently announced that Mbappe has rejected a contract extension and will leave the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.
When Mbappe announced his departure last year, PSG tried to hold onto him, but the mood is different this time around. PSG have decided to sell him, and have been on the hunt for players quickly to build a post-Mbappe team.
They’ve already landed Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, Uruguayan international midfielder Manuel Ugarte, Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio, and now they’re reportedly close to signing Mallorca’s sensational Lee Kang-in.
Now, PSG have added another World Cup star to their list of targets.
“Gonzalo Higuain is at the top of PSG’s priority list,” Portuguese outlet A Bola reported on Friday (Aug. 15).
“Hamus is at the top of PSG’s transfer list. We understand that PSG have not yet made an offer, but a deal could happen soon. We also know that PSG will have to offer at least €80 million to convince Benfica to sell,” the report said, revealing PSG’s interest in Hamus.
The Benfica forward made his professional debut for the club in 2020 after coming through the Benfica youth ranks. He established himself in the team from the 2021/22 season and exploded with talent in the 2022/23 campaign. He was the team’s top scorer with 19 goals in 30 appearances, finishing second in the Primeira Liga.
Hamus continued to excel with the Portuguese national team. He was called up to the Portuguese national team for the first time in September 2022 and was touted as a possible replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo from the moment he arrived.
But in his first start at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, a hat-trick against Switzerland in the round of 16, Hamus relegated Ronaldo to the bench, and he went on to start the quarterfinals, confirming that he is the next striker in Portugal’s lineup.토토사이트
‘Avola’ added: “Benfica know that in the case of Hamus, unlike João Felix and Enzo Fernandes, it will be difficult to reach a buyout. Hammers has a buyout clause of 120 million euros ($166.5 million),” adding that PSG and Benfica could settle for less than the player is expected to demand.
Meanwhile, if Hammers does join PSG, he will likely be paired with Lee Kang-in in the attacking third.
In Mallorca, Lee played all over the attacking area, from winger to attacking midfielder to second striker, and formed a good partnership with Bedat Murki. If they join PSG, Mourinho and Lee will form a new attacking combination that will be highly anticipated.
