Qatari capital to take over Manchester United?
Britain’s ‘Sky Sports’ reported on the 10th (Korean time), “Individual investors associated with the Qatari royal family are considering a bid to acquire Manchester United next week. They have registered their interest in the investment bank ‘Rain Group’, which is promoting the sale of Manchester United.” Reported.
Manchester United are looking for a new owner. The Glazer family, long-time owners of Manchester United, put the club on the market for sale in November last year. Amidst the interest of investors around the world, Qatari capital, which has recently been active in sports investment, is also considering acquisition.
Previously, Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Sports Investment Authority (QSI), became a hot topic when it acquired Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Investors who want to acquire Man Utd are a different group from QSI, so there is no problem in acquiring Man Utd. According to the rules of the European Football Federation (UEFA), two clubs run by the same owner cannot participate in the same competition. 먹튀검증
Also, money matters. Glazer owners want to sell it for around £6 billion (approximately 9.1765 trillion won). The value of Manchester United registered on the New York stock market is about 3.2 billion pounds (approximately 4.89 trillion won). There is a big difference from the amount the owner of Glazer wants.
Qatari investors are also unlikely to ‘overpay’. According to the British ‘Daily Mail’, these investors are looking at about 4.5 billion pounds (about 6.8595 trillion won) as a realistic takeover of Manchester United. The Glazer family also plans to sell with a partial stake if it cannot sell outright.
It’s not just Qatar that is interested in buying Man United. Previously, Jim Rockcliffe, chairman of INEOS Chemicals Group, had already submitted a bid to take over Manchester United. The United States and the Middle East are also eyeing it.
The deadline to buy Man United is mid-February. It is expected that the acquisition competition will begin in earnest in the near future.
